With the headquarters in Vienna, Bilfinger Berger Baugesellschaft m.b.H. was founded in 1974 as Grün+Bilfinger.

In 1995, a second branch was established in Linz with a focus on building and industrial construction. In 1999, the enterprise was renamed Bilfinger Berger Baugesellschaft m.b.H. In January 2003, the Passau branch of Bilfinger Berger Ingenieurbau GmbH was integrated into Bilfinger Berger Baugesellschaft m.b.H.

The first steps of expansion into Eastern Europe took place in 2004 and 2005. Thus Bilfinger Berger Civil Hungaria Kft., Budapest was established as a subsidiary for the Hungarian market and the Pilsen, Czech Republic branch.

Since 2007, Bilfinger Berger Baugesellschaft m.b.H. has been optimally positioned for the Eastern European market with branches in Bratislava, Slovakia and Bucharest, Romania.
